Former James M. Bennett High School teacher Ann Moncrief Schuchart and her husband, Brock Schuchart, have pleaded guilty to charges stemming from child sexual abuse that investigators say occurred over five years, from April 2021 through April 2026, in Wicomico County, Maryland.

Ann Schuchart entered an Alford plea on October 23 to one count of sexual abuse of a minor. Prosecutors will seek a 25-year sentence, with all but 10 years suspended. Her sentencing is scheduled for December 18. She will also face Tier III sex offender registration, lifetime supervision, and restrictions on contact with minors.

Brock Schuchart pleaded guilty on September 4 to sexual abuse of a minor, second-degree rape, and production of child pornography. Prosecutors will seek a life sentence, including a 15-year mandatory minimum for the rape conviction. His sentencing is scheduled for November 20. He will also be required to register as a Tier III sex offender and undergo lifetime supervision.

As part of Brock Schuchart’s plea agreement, prosecutors will not pursue charges involving a separate minor victim identified during the investigation.

Wicomico County Public Schools stated that Ann Schuchart is no longer employed by the district. She worked for WCPS for more than a decade and was named a James M. Bennett High School Teacher of the Year in 2021.

Sentencing remains pending for both defendants.
