SALISBURY, Maryland. – St. Francis de Sales Catholic School is expanding its academic offerings with the launch of a new upper school program, beginning with a founding ninth-grade class in the fall of 2026.
The initiative marks a significant step for the school, which currently serves students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. School officials say the new high school will grow gradually, adding one grade level each year until a full four-year program is established.
According to the school, the upper school will provide a college-preparatory academic program designed to challenge students while supporting their intellectual and personal development. The curriculum will emphasize critical thinking, strong study habits, and preparation for college and future careers, while integrating Catholic values throughout daily learning.
The program will feature small class sizes, individualized academic guidance, and honors-level opportunities, creating what administrators describe as a supportive and academically rigorous environment.
School leaders say students in the inaugural class will play a unique role in shaping the culture and traditions of the new high school. As founding members, they will have expanded opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and involvement in developing the school’s identity.
Beyond academics, the upper school will offer a range of extracurricular activities, including athletics, service opportunities, campus ministry, and student leadership programs. Officials emphasize that the goal is to provide a well-rounded high school experience that fosters both academic success and personal growth.
The expansion aligns with the school’s broader mission of delivering a faith-based, academically rigorous education to students of all backgrounds, preparing them for leadership and service in their communities.
Enrollment for the founding ninth-grade class will be limited, and school officials encourage interested families to begin the application process early as the program prepares to launch.
