Promotes Hateful Book Against Christian Conservatives In The Wake Of Kirk's Assassination
American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten's book, WHY FASCISTS FEAR TEACHERS: PUBLIC EDUCATION AND THE FUTURE OF DEMOCRACY begins as you would expect it to, especially if you have been exposed to the rantings and vitriol Ms. Weingarten has spewed for years against parents and those who advocate for the rights of parents to determine the upbringing, education, and medical care of their own children.
She compares them to NAZIS.
Central to that comparison are descriptions of NAZIS in Hitler's Germany barging into schools and beating students and teachers. Weingarten writes about teachers being sent to concentration camps as if anything like this is happening in the United States.
Sorry, Randi, getting fired from your job for lacking discretion and professionalism is not the same.
She quickly shifts to the rosy picture of today's public school teachers, who are portrayed as poor souls who since 2016, when Donald Trump was elected, have faced "unprecedented attacks" merely for doing what they are dedicated to do, teach. She details these attacks as having to do with "every percentage point shift in standardized testing, wanting to keep kids and teachers safe during the Covid 19 pandemic, for teaching honest history, for wanting to make schools safe and welcoming for all."
Quite a contrast between reality and her blatantly untrue observations.
Of course, those attacking teachers are a "group of anti-government, anti-pluralism, anti-opportunity fascists, oligarchs, and far right activists demonizing public school teachers so they can divide the American public and destroy public education as we know it," according to Weingarten. She describes these "attackers" as banning books, pushing privatization, promoting inequality, and smearing teachers as Marxist indoctrinators and more.
From there, Randi goes into a rhapsodic, almost religious, rant, extolling the pure motives and awful hardships of every single teacher in the United States public school system. She talks about the Founding Fathers, who I am sure Randi has called racists at some point, and their belief that "Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people." Then she seems to say that parents who believe in their parental rights are in opposition to that the vision.
It's also somewhat ironic that she chooses a quote from the founders that promotes the people's need to have a "general knowledge" while public school test scores in the United States sink lower and lower due, in a large part, to the actions of unions like the American Federation of Teachers and their members.
It's almost laughable. As one reads further, you might think that Randi is actually a devotee of conservative President Ronald Reagan, because she ignores how schools have pivoted from actually teaching children content to teaching them garbage about gender ideology, racial division, hatred of divergent ideas, and fear of free speech. She talks about how noble education is, giving children what they need to be successful and that we need to give students the ability to think critically. Unless of course they are critically thinking about the drivel she and her devotees share in speeches and in this book and see it all as garbage.
I'm surprised she didn't burst into flames from all the lies she wrote. It makes me wonder if she actually wrote the book or hired someone else to do it for her. I mean, she actually writes that teachers' unions were the ones to open schools during Covid. It was exactly the opposite.
Randi cloaks this defense of public education all in the mantle of inclusivity and acceptance. Well, at least for those who agree with her. Anyone who questions her is authoritarian, racist, elitist and a fascist. She consistently portrays herself as someone who has "spent my life trying to make schools better." The question is, better for who?
She certainly has improved her personal wealth while pursuing her so-called life's mission.
Weingarten spends a great deal of the book defining fascism, railing against conservative voices and groups like Moms for Liberty, fabricating lies to demonize them. She totally ignores the organizations belief that parents ought to be able to send their children to school knowing they will get a strong academic education. Parents don't want a classroom teacher who think it's their mission to convince children that they are in the wrong body, that their parents are stupid and "untrustworthy", or that children are either oppressors or oppressed based on the color of their skin.
The biggest targets of her book, Trump, Moms for Liberty, school choice advocate Christopher Rufo, the Heritage Foundation, red states like Florida and Oklahoma, and anyone who thinks radical, left wing teachers are destructive to education. (Note: She mentions Trump 35 times in the first 32 pages. Can you say "obsession?") According to Weingarten, only fascists want teachers unions influence out of politics and classroom curriculum policy. She discusses how unfair it was for her to be targeted for her extremist ideas.
Weingarten writes that "teachers just want what is best for their students" and parents and taxpayers should have no say in that. She describes "standing in the front of the classroom and standing in the breach-for every child, for every family, for every community, for every future."
Unless, of course, that child comes from a family that is conservative and has strong religious beliefs. Or if a community or family want to protect children from pornographic library books, harmful gender ideology, or blatant social engineering.
If you choose to read this book, be prepared. Aside from her obsession with calling every conservative in this country a fascist, she portrays parents as the enemy in the classroom; authoritarians who are bothered by "complexity" and present themselves as the simplistic antidote for truth.
Again, it's almost laughable. Has Randi watched her recent speeches?
If you want to know who Randi is, you won't find much about that in this book. However, it is important to note that she was born in New York City. In her teens, she witnessed her mother’s seven-week union strike, instilling in her a lifelong fascination for labor organizing. Her career history is filled with labor activism and six years of teaching. She has a law degree.
In July 2008, Weingarten became President of the AFT—leading 1.7 million members across education, healthcare, and public service . She launched the Innovation Fund, championed community schools, fought standardized-test misuse, and defended teacher tenure. She also led the UFT’s major real estate move in NYC, generating tens of millions in revenue.
Her current estimated net worth is $7 to 8 million dollars, and she earns approximately $500,000 dollars a year in her union position.
In short, union life has been very good to Ms. Weingarten.
A final note. The hatred and vile language used in this book to describe conservatives, President Trump, and groups like Moms for Liberty, are exactly the kind of vitriol that promoted the assassination of Charlie Kirk and the attempted assassination of President Trump. While Randi seemingly condemned both events, she had no trouble going on a tour to promote her inflammatory book shortly after Kirk's assassination.
Weingarten attempted to wiggle out of the accusations of many who point out the anger and hate in her book, saying that her book does not label individuals as fascists but describes fascistic behavior and why authoritarian regimes fear educators.
Talk about mental gymnastics. Randi gets a gold medal.
Here's another story about Weingarten's hatred, one in which she promoted a lie online:
And she has back up support from Hillary Clinton:
Here is Clinton's Tweet:

She and Hillary may want to take a closer look at what was in the book. Is it possible she didn't read it? Even worse, is it possible Randi didn't read it?
The book is available at various booksellers. Save your money. I expect it will be on the $1.00 table soon.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you are wondering what National Education Association President Becky Pringle said about the assassination of Charlie Kirk, here is her statement:
National Education Association President Becky Pringle released the following statement in the wake of increased threats and targeted actions against educators following Kirk’s assassination.
“Violence, aggression, and intimidation have no place in our schools or campuses, our country or democracy. When threats and attacks target educators, they do not just endanger individuals; they undermine the very foundation of public education and democracy. Every student deserves to learn in a safe environment and every educator deserves to work without fear.
“The threats, harassment, and mob tactics targeting educators are another orchestrated attempt to intimidate us. These attacks are meant to silence our voices and undermine public education – all to pave the way to privatization.
“America’s educators have spent decades demanding our elected leaders take meaningful action to end school and campus shootings. We should focus on making sure that public schools and college campuses are the safest places – not battlegrounds for intimidation and hate.
“Educators work every day to support, inspire and protect our students, their families, and communities. We speak up for all students, especially students with disabilities and from low-income families. Now some are trying to silence us for calling out what is really happening: politicians pushing anti-public education agendas are trying to take meals from hungry students, strip Medicaid from those who need care at school, and target our immigrant students and their families.
“Our nation must reject the vitriol that is making schools and communities less safe and poisoning our public discourse. Our students deserve better: a higher quality of debate and role models who put their safety ahead of politics, and reflect the values of dignity, respect, and democracy.”
Somehow, Becky missed the point. First, she never even mentioned Charlie Kirk's assassination. Second, she neglected to say that many educators that are in trouble have published posts that celebrate his death. Some of them even encourage MORE violence!
Their public displays of hatred, in some cases, have gotten them fired. At the very least, the quotes that got teachers fired did not "reflect the values of dignity, respect and democracy."
Did anyone tell Pringle?
Guess not. Here, let's help her out:
Disclaimer: The author is the local Chapter Chair for Moms for Liberty. Also, we respect Ms. Weingarten's right to her opinion. But, U.S. Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, once said: "You are entitled to your own opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts."
